Lisa Cherkasky is the author of You’re the Chef, the cookbook companion for A Smart Girl’s Guide: Cooking. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Lisa is not only a chef but also a popular food writer, food stylist, and culinary educator. The Washington Post, Marriott, Vegetarian Times, MaggieMoo’s, the California Almond Board, McCormick Spice, the Smithsonian, and National Geographic are just a few of her clients, and she maintains the blog TheLunchCounter.com, where she writes and riffs about sandwiches. Lisa is an active member of Les Dames d’Escoffier, the International Association of Culinary Professionals, and the Southern Foodways Alliance, as well as a charter member of the Culinary Historians of Washington. She lives in the Washington, D.C., area.
